The Illinois Secretary of State’s bomb squad is investigating after an explosive device was left on the railroad tracks in Madison County. Railway workers called authorities after finding a one-point-two-pound propane tank with two fuses attached to the tracks a few miles outside Edwardsville. Someone had apparently tried to light the device, but was unsuccessful.
The bomb squad removed the tank safely yesterday afternoon and disposed of it.
