A man from Holiday Shores is recovering after he was involved in an accident early Thursday. After crashing his car, police say 36-year-old James Gleich started walking for help but passed out in a bean field for several hours before later being found by police.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department says Gleich was the driver of a car that was found overturned just before 5am on Buchta Road. He told police he climbed out of the vehicle and started to walk and look for help but passed out. When police arrived on the scene, they found the unoccupied car and began a search for the driver, eventually calling in other ground resources and later an Illinois State Police Airplane. Gleich was located walking along South Moreland Road just after 11am by a Bethalto Police officer, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
