March weather was cold and dry in Illinois. State Climatologist Jim Angel says the statewide average temperature was just under 34 degrees. That’s seven degrees below average, and makes last month the eighth coldest on record in Illinois.

Statewide average precipitation was just 1.49 inches. That’s about an inch and a half below normal, and the 11th driest March on record. Angel says eight out of the last nine months in Illinois have had below average precipitation.
