Starting with the fall season, football players at Trimpe Middle School in Bethalto will face opponents from a set of schools that have similar enrollment numbers.  The Madison County Junior High School Conference is being left behind, in favor of the creation of the Mississippi Valley Junior Football League.

District Athletic Director Steve Carey says the change should be good for morale.

Other schools in the new league include all of the high-school conference schools, including Jerseyville, Highland, Mascoutah, Triad and Waterloo.  He says they will also add some non-conference games with schools more their size.  Off the schedule will be middle schools such as Edwardsville, Alton and Granite City.  The change goes into effect in the fall.
