The City of Wood River is hoping the good weather continues, as it helps the bottom line at the Belk Park Golf Course. Changes have been made to the driving range over the past year or so, fixing the fencing, and upgrading the overall look of the facility. Park & Recreation Director Jason Woody says he is hearing good things from the public, and hopes more golfers will return to play at the course.
He says they are leaving fees alone for now.
Municipal golf courses around the area have been victimized by the shaky economy. In Alton, the Wadlow Course has closed for good to make way for redevelopment of the land, the Rock Spring Course is under new management, and Belk Park has gone through a series of management changes in recent years.
