A man who was allegedly beaten when he tried to break up a domestic altercation and died of his injuries is being laid to rest today.  43-year-old Johnny Gleason passed away June 6 at a hospital in Springfield.  He had been in a coma since the incident on May 3 in Alton.

Twin brothers have already been charged in the incident and are awaiting trial, but now that Gleason has passed away, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office expects a grand jury to consider upgraded charges. That could happen in early July, according to an office spokesman.  24 year olds Aaron Hosford of Wood River and Adam Hosford of East Alton have been charged with aggravated battery and mob action in connection with the case.  The beating reportedly took place on the large parking lot in downtown Alton bordered by Belle, Piasa, 4th and 5th Streets on May 3 around 3am.
