Former Madison County Treasurer Fred Bathon began serving his 30-month sentence this week for rigging the bidding on delinquent property tax liens from 2005-2009 in exchange for campaign donations.  Bathon reported to the Federal Correctional Institute Terre Haute’s prison camp Monday and will spend at least 26-months living in the minimum-security facility.

While incarcerated, Bathon will be assigned a job earning between 12 and 40 cents an hour.  He will be required to wear a uniform consisting of a buttoned khaki shirt tucked into khaki pants while working and will be able to participate in a number of activities including painting, leathercraft and art.
