A couple of bars in Godfrey have come under the watchful ear of village authorities in recent weeks, following complaints of loud music. The Rotten Apple and the Beer Barrel Pub, located a block apart on Montclaire Avenue, have both been the focus of those complaints.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says these are fairly recent issues.
The outdoor stage is at The Rotten Apple, and has been in use for about two weeks. McCormick says finding a way to balance the need for the bars to have live music to draw business with the quality of life issues for the neighbors will be a balancing act. Two possibilities would be to place limits on both the decibel levels allowed and how late they are allowed to play. This will be discussed at Monday night's Public Safety Committee Meeting, which will start at 6:00 at Village Hall.
