Alton Police Detectives have called in help from outside sources in order to identify the body found on Tuesday afternoon in the city.  Authorities were called to property in the 2700 block of Powhatten Street where human remains were found.  Police are now trying to determine the identity.

In a news release from Alton Police, Chief of Detectives Scott Golike said the body appeared to have been at the site for some time and the next step is to identify the person.  The Madison County Coroner, Illinois State Police and the St. Louis Medical Examiner is assisting in the investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.  Stay tuned to The Big Z for further updates.
