The Alton Fire Chief is selling off some equipment in order to get the money to buy some pieces he feels the department needs. One rescue truck is being sent to California while a stepladder truck in heading to New York following City Council approval. A truck currently being used in Palm Harbor, Florida may be brought to Alton.
This is a process made possible through the use of the internet, according to Fire Chief Bernie Sebold.

The truck heading to California is being sold for $75,000, while the one going to New York will bring the city $249,000. A price has not yet been discussed for the one being considered in Florida. He says he will have to inspect it before the council makes a decision one way or another.
