Alton’s Public Works director says a number of pieces of equipment that replaced older units have already been pressed into action. The city’s mix of old and new equipment has worked well over the past several days. As for the salt supply, there have been a couple of fairly mild winters in a row before this season, so Bob Barnhart thinks the city is in good shape.

In city council business from Wednesday night, Aldermen suspended the rules to enter into an agreement with Walters Golf Management as it decides what action to take next in regards to the Spencer T. Olin Golf Course. Century Golf Management currently runs the course, but has expressed a desire to end its relationship with the city in that capacity.
