An Alton man, who was recently indicted on charges related to the distribution of drugs, has peaded guilty to a pair of felonies. The Alton Police Department conducted the initial investigation. The case is now being handled by Special Assistant United States Attorney Vanessa T. Lu.
United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Stephan R. Wiggington announced Wednesday that 28-year-old Jason Edwards pled guilty on 2 counts of Distribution of Cocaine both in Madison County. Those counts carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine, and not less that 3 years' supervised release. The alleged crimes took place between February and December of 2014. Information gathered leading to the charges against Edwards was obtained from an investigation conducted by the Alton Police Department.
