New agreements between the City of Alton and two of its collective bargaining units will be up for final approval at tonight’s City Council meeting. The Alton City Council Committee of the Whole gave preliminary approval to contracts with the Teamsters and AFSCME last night. Both bargaining units have already ratified the contracts.
The contracts include raises of 3% effective June 1, 2015 for fiscal year 2015, a 1.75% increase for fiscal year 2016, and a 2% increase for fiscal year 2017. Going back to fiscal year 2014, there was no increase. These contracts run through March 31, 2018. The contracts are similar to those of Alton Firefighters and Alton Patrol Officers. The full council will consider these and other measures at tonight’s meeting at 7:30 at Alton City Hall.
