Two people who share a residence in East Alton are now facing additional charges following their arrest last month. 34-year old Christopher M. Pierce and 39-year old Janet L. Brannon, both of the 300 block of Niagra Street, were arrested June 4th near Wood River Creek after a witness reported a chemical smell coming from the suspects' vehicle. Authorities say the suspects' became combative when contacted by law enforcement, throwing chemicals at an officer before being taken into custody.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine making materials. Each suspect was charged with three Class X felonies last month and is facing two additional felony charges alleging the suspects produced methamphetamine in a building in which two people younger than 13 lived. Each has also been charged with aggravated battery, unlawful possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Each suspect is being held on a $1-million bond.
