About this event

ALTON — Jacoby Arts Center’s Friday Nites Live! series extends to theatrical arts commencing with the original, G-rated comedy improvisations of Paper Slip Theatre. The improv troupe will perform at 7:30pm, Friday, September 25.

Using audience suggestions, Ed Reggi and his company of actors play audience activated improv comedy games. Both the audience and the actors never know how the games will turn out. This is pure spontaneous theatre in which the actors listen and respond to the audience, create characters, invite audience members to play necessary props, characters, and even scenery, as they experience this interactive improv performance. If you have seen Drew Carey’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway” then you’ll love this show.

"From the moment I walked into Jacoby Arts Center, I fell in love with the amazing space,” says Ed Reggi actor and owner of Paper Slip Theatre. “It is perfect for comedy improv and I know my cast of talented actors will love making the audience laugh until they can laugh no more.”

A professional actor with more than 20 years on stage, a teaching - artist at Springboard providing acting and media literacy for arts and cultural integration programs, and an ambassador for the Chicago Improv Festival, Ed Reggi brings extraordinary comedic talent to the stage and an unscripted engagement with the audience.

Summarizing his left-brain/right-brain fluency, Ed Reggi says he is “living proof that Steve Hawking and Jonathan Winters could have a child together.”

Paper Slip Theatre is Ed Reggi’s audience-activated entertainment company that performs to audiences throughout the Midwest. This is Paper Slip Theatre’s first performance at Jacoby Arts Center in Alton. Cast members include regional actors Deanna Massie, Jamie Pitt, C. David Harrison, Cooper Shaw, and Ed Reggi.

“Come relax and enjoy some great laughs in our East gallery cabaret setting. This is a show you do not want to miss.” says Denny Scarborough, Jacoby president.

Paper Slip Theatre will perform at 7:30pm as part of Jacoby’s Friday Nites Live! series. Doors open at 7:00pm, with seating available on a first-come basis.

Liparato’s family owned Italian bakery will provide Illy coffee from Milan and their specialty cookies and cannoli.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 and no reservation is required. Food and drink are available at an additional cost.
