SAXsational is a program featuring local high school musicians led by saxophone virtuoso Rob Verdi. Mrs. Verdi hold a music education degree from Arizona St. University. In 1983 he formed the :Side Street Strutters Jazz Band" which continues to present formal concerts throughout the U. S. Rob performs regularly at the Disneyland Resort, is active in a variety of Los Angeles are musical projects, and conducts clinics and workshops for the Disney Magic Music Days Guest Talent program. Band students from Alton High School and Jerseyville High School will be working with Mr. Verdi to prepare and present and outstanding concert.
Greater Alton Concert Association believes that music is an important part of the development and education of children. With special sponsorship by Simmons Law Firm, Halpin Music Company and Maneke Jewlery, we are able to bring this program to the students and offer the concert at special low cost of only $10.00.
Pieces performed will include, "Gabriel's Oboe", "Stompin at the Savory", "What a Wonderful World", and "Softly as a Morning Sunrise" and more.
The 3:00 concert in Hatheway Cultural Center on the Godfrey campus of LCCC will have tickets available at the door or by calling 618-468-4222.
