Meet Rhonda Schrum: Rhonda will be teaching French Serti Techniques on Silk Scarves
Local Instructor and Artist Rhonda Schrum of In Design Studio is offering 2 opportunities for students to learn this wonderful technique to paint on silk. With the Serti technique, students draw on silk with a water-based wax then paint it with environmentally friendly dyes. The wax resist creates “dams” that keep the dyes from bleeding so the opportunity to draw intricate designs is wide open!
This two day workshop meets for three hours the first week and for two hours the second. Week one will be all about learning the techniques, practicing on a small square of silk and experimenting with color to design your scarf. Return on week two to set the dye and finish your one-of-a-kind scarf, then wear it home proudly.

Workshop meets 2 Saturdays; 3 hours first Saturday then a 2 hrs session second Saturday Cost to register for this 5 hour workshop is $60.oo. There is an additional $20.oo supply fee that covers ALL supplies: an 11x60 Habotai silk scarf, one small silk sample piece for practice and the use of everything one needs (stretcher frames, brushes, wax, dyes…). You only need to show up!!
