Maple Tapping with LaVista CSA

About this event

Learn with a hands-on approach about the process of making tasty maple syrup and its history. TNI's Patti Brown with lead a hike through maples with a background of syruping and the biology of the trees. Then Eric Stevens, LaVista CSA Farm will demostrate how to tap and collect the sap with everyday items and how to boil the water off. There will even be tasting the newly created syrup!
 
The group will meet at the entrance to Oblates, located at 4350 Levis Lane in Godfrey, and the hike will begin at 9:30 a.m. Dress for the weather as we will be outside for the majority of the course.
 
Registration is required and the space is limited to only 30 guests. There is a suggested donation of $10 per person with process benefiting both The Nature Institute and LaVista.
