The Audubon Center at Riverlands is pleased to present guest speaker Dr. Joe Steensma of Washington University and author of 'A Guide to Birds of North Andros Island.'
People, communities, ecosystems, and seasons are connected through birds. From Belleville to the Bahamas, from Ellis Island to Andros Island our communities are connected through birds. Join us for an evening of exploring these connections with Washington University professor, author, and a foremost expert on birds of the Bahamas, Joe Steensma. Dr. Steenma has spent the past 22 winters in the Bahamas studying the neotropical migrants that pour through the Mississippi River flyway each year on their way to their winter homes. Known as much for his humor as he is for his birding exploits, Dr. Steensma weaves science and story-telling together in such a way that even non-birders leave wanting to learn more about the birds that connect us.
The evening will start with an interactive presentation and lecture and will be followed by a book signing.
