The Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled is an adult day learning center serving adults with developmental disabilities living in Macoupin County. MCDD’s program, which focuses on academics, social skills and life skills, provides a learning atmosphere that caters to the students’ diverse levels of abilities. In addition, MCDD offers programs and events like Camp Goodtimes and Mini Olympics to individuals throughout central Illinois.
MCDD receives its funding primarily from the Macoupin County Mental Deficiency Fund and the United Way of Greater St. Louis. Because of the unpredictability of this funding, MCDD is always in search of alternative funding that would provide a more secure future for the center. The center works to provide funding for itself organizing several fundraisers throughout the year – including a quarter auction, an annual Chicken and Dumpling dinner and our largest fundraiser each year, the “Memories of Elvis’ concert starring Steve Davis and Mid-South Revival Band.
This year’s “Memories of Elvis” fundraiser is on Saturday, April 23 at the Carlinville Elk’s Lodge. The Elk’s kitchen crew will be serving a spaghetti dinner from 6-7:30pm before the concert begins at 8pm. The event will also include a silent auction and raffles to help raise additional funds. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to help support the center and its programs.
Doors will open at 5 pm with a spaghetti dinner being served from 6-7:30pm. The performance will start at 8 pm and features “Buddy Holly” and “Patsy Cline” in addition to “Elvis”. A Preferred table for 8 is $225, a Reserved table for 8 is $200 and single tickets can be purchased for $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
