On a crisp, clear evening, have you ever looked at the stars and wondered what you were seeing? Would you like to view the surface of the moon or perhaps a planet? If so, come join us at The Audubon Center at Riverlands for an evening of star gazing and enjoying nature at night. Knowledgeable astronomers will guide your viewing of the night sky and staff from the Center will lead nature walks throughout the Sanctuary to listen to ducks and swans communicate on Heron Pond. On a clear evening, we should be able to identify several planets (Mars and Jupiter), the moon, and star clusters!
We will have refreshments at the Center, go for a short prairie walk to hear the night birds, and finish at the site set up for stargazing behind the Center. Knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to assist and telescopes will be provided. Bring camp chairs and dress warmly for chilly weather. We will also have a small bonfire.
The event is limited to 40 people. For more information, call (636) 899-0090.
Admission Cost: Non-members: $10 for adults; $5 for kids Members:$7 for adults; $3 for kids
