About this event

An Evening with LOUDON WAINWRIGHT III

Judd Apatow told Rolling Stone Magazine, "In my head, Loudon Wainwright is Bono." And Loudon really is a folk music superstar, a beacon in the cultural night for people who read between the lines and enjoy their feelings with a little thought and humor.

Loudon's songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Earl Scruggs, Rufus Wainwright (his son) and Mose Allison, among others.

His recording career spans 26 albums, including 2009's GRAMMY-winning High Wide & Handsome, a tribute to Charlie Poole, the legendary singer banjo player. The album was awarded Album of the Year by Entertainment Weekly editor and NPR contributor Ken Tucker. His latest release, Haven't Got the Blues (Yet) is the follow up to the critically-acclaimed Older than My Old Man Now album from 2012.

Loudon has collaborated with songwriter/producer Joe Henry on the music for Judd Apatow's hit movie Knocked Up, written music for the British theatrical adaptation of the Carl Hiaasen novel Lucky You and composed topical songs for NPR's Morning Edition, All Things Considered and ABC TV's Nightline.

Mojo Magazine called Loudon "...one of America's most astute lyrical commentators...lyrically compelling and emotionally overpowering."
