Alton IL - 03/04/16 - Dark Horse Art Works is pleased to announce the Gene Ursprung Art Exhibit. Please join us March 4 - 6, 2016 at The Old Bakery Beer Company, located at 400 Landmarks Blvd. Alton, IL. Doors open from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and Noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
The art collection of Gene Ursprung consist of beautiful water colors, oils and multi-media paintings. Exquisite colors create stunning renditions of the landscapes around Alton, the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers, the farm communities and historic areas. The paintings will be available framed and unframed and the original art can be seen at Ursprung’s Studios on Facebook. Get there early for best selection as all art on display will be for sale on a first come, first served basis. Please inquire if a piece would benefit your collection.
Gene is a bit of a local art legend. He received his BA and MS from SIUE and was listed in the Who’s Who of American Education. He has taught art in the Alton School District and at Lewis and Clark Community College and although he is retired from teaching he is still friends with many of his former art and photography students.
Eric Stauffer created Dark Horse Art Works to give artists of all skill levels the opportunity to get their art sold and viewed by the public. Dark Horse Art Works exhibits have been featured at Jacoby Arts Center, Spirits Lounge and Alton Square Mall. Several opportunities for artists are in the near future.
