Macoupin County Historical Society's Fall Festival, Carlinville's biggest fall event will be held 9-4, Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20 on the Historical Society grounds at 920 Breckenridge, in the north west corner of Carlinville. As always parking and admission to the grounds are free. Over 160 vendors will be set up on the grounds.
In the Red Barn, breakfasts of sausage and gravy, fresh baked cinnamon rolls, home made applesauce and rhubarb sauce, coffee, juice, and milk will be served starting at 7 each day. Home made chicken and noodles, ham and beans, pulled pork BBQ, Italian beef, Polish sausage, hot dogs, slaw, applesauce, rhubarb sauce and fifteen varieties of fresh baked home made pies will be offered on the desert table.
The Macoupin Antique Agricultural Association will be serving BBQ gilled pork chops and pork burgers. and deserts and drinks in their pavilion.
Tours of the Museum may be taken for a nominal fee. The fall the Museum will feature Military clothing and memorabilia. On the Society grounds, the Tractor Club will be displaying Minneapolis Moline and Oliver tractors. The Prairieland Garden Tractor Pullers will hold a Garden Tractor Pull on Saturday with the contest starting at 11:30.
Free live musical entertainment will feature the Chris Talley Trio entertaining from noon till 3 and the Outlaw Opry Band on Sunday from noon till 3.
There is also a working Village Blacksmith Shop, an Original One-Room School House, an Original Country Church with hymn singing at 1 each day and Sunday service at 8:30 on Sunday. Other points of interest include two display buildings full of vintage house hold items and antique farm equipment, a working Print Shop and an old time country store. The newest addition to the site is a Gas Station. Many old time demonstrations such as soap making, spinning, basket and rug weaving, broom making, lumber and wood shingle sawing, and wheat thrashing will be taking place.
