Annual Community Festival St. Paul's Kirchenfest Highland, Illinois
Kirchenfest, which is German for "Church Festival," is one of the largest church festivals in Southern Illinois with the event spreading over six acres on the grounds of St. Paul Parish. Beginning in 1970 the festival has a German theme, as the Highland community is primarily Swiss and German heritage. This two-day festival offers something for everyone - food (including a Bavarian skillet dish prepared by a 500 pound skillet and a sit-down chicken dinner), live music, games, live auction, flea market, a competitive run, bike ride and much more!
