Greenfield native, Luke Smith, currently on furlough from his Christian ministry in Cambodia, will be speaking at Westminster Presbyterian, Godfrey, Sunday morning March 29. Smith will report on his ministries challenges & successes at the 9:00am Christian Ed. time slot, then preach in the 10:15am morning worship service. After completing his schooling in Greene Cty., Luke earned an AG. degree at Western Il. Univ., then completed a masters program at the Univ. of Missouri. It was there that. after reading the missionary biography of 5 Christian missionaries killed in Equador by the Auca Indian tribe they were trying to reach with the gospel, his burden for foreign mission service began to grow. After completing his masters program at U of Mo., he entered Dallas Theological Seminary where he later earned an M.Div. degree. In preparation for foreign service with Mission to the World, the international mission agency of the Presbyterian Church in America, Luke worked with refugees through his church in Dallas, New St.Peter's Pres. In 2009 he was ordained as a Teaching Elder in the N.Texas Presbytery & shortly thereafter arrived to begin his work in Cambodia. His wife, Sakho & little girl will be joining him as they share their ministry to the Westminster congregation. The riverbend community is invited to come & listen as this young man shares his passion for the gospel of Christ in Cambodia at either the 9am Christian Ed. time or at the 10:15am morning worship service.
