To be presented at the Genealogy & Local History Library at 401 State Street, Alton. George Washington was born a slave but lived a life of freedom, thanks to Dr. Silas Hamilton. Beth McGlasson of the Jersey County Historical Society shares the extraordinary tale of these men and how their generosity has benefited thousands of children.
