The Daughters of the American Revolution is a volunteer service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children.
The Ninian Edwards Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Hayner Genealogy & Local History Library invite you to our third annual Open House event for anyone interested in researching their genealogy and interested in becoming a DAR member.
We will once again have experienced researchers available to help you get started or to help you conclude your search for the Revolutionary War patriot in your family. These researchers can also help guide you through the application process for joining DAR.
One success story from last year’s event involves Barb Hinson. She came to the event after seeing it advertised in the Hayner newsletter and hoped to learn how to join DAR. With the help of the active DAR members and research done by Barb’s uncle, Ray Luken, Barb did find her Revolutionary War patriot ancestor.
William Taylor served under Capt. William Fullwood in the militia of South Carolina and was a member of the Committee of Safety. Barb was inducted into the Ninian Edwards Chapter in September. Congratulations, Barb!
Admission to this event is free, and registration is not necessary. If you have questions, please call us at 462-0677, Ext. 2865. All are welcome to join us for this event. We hope to see you there.
