After winning the “Young Musicians of the Doelen” competition in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in 1996, the duo of Eugenia Moliner, flute, and Denis Azabajic, guitar—the Cavatina Duo—has performed in many festivals and venues across Europe, Asia and the USA. In addition to traditional classics, the duo's repertoire includes the folk music traditions of Spain and the Balkans. Composers from around the world--including Sergio Assad--have arranged and dedicated new music to the duo, Together they have recorded five CD's for Spanish and North American labels. Eugenia Moliner has performed with the principal musicians of the Chicago Symphony and Rotterdam Philharmonic orchestras, and has been featured on radio and television programs in Spain, the Netherlands, Mexico, Taiwan and the USA. Denis Azabagic, winner of eleven international competitions, has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Chicago and Madrid Symphonies, among many others. Both Eugenia and Denis are Artist- Faculty Members at the Chicago College of Performing Arts.
