A native of St. Louis, Douglas Niedt began his study of the guitar at the age of seven with his father, an amateur guitarist and, at one time, President of the George C. Krick Classic Guitar Guild (predecessor to the St. Louis Classical Guitar Society). His ongoing studies have taken him around the world, beginning in St. Louis, to study with Alan Rosenkoetter, Head of the Guitar Program at Washington University; to Spain for the Segovia Master Classes; to the Juilliard School; and to study with other accomplished guitarists Christopher Parkening, Narciso Yepes, and Jorge Morel. He has performed in major cities around the U.S., including three appearances at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, and Ambassador Auditorium in Los Angeles. Mr. Niedt serves as the Chair of the Guitar Program at the University of Missouri-- Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. He returns to St. Louis for a ninth time, sponsored more than any other performer in the history of the organization. He will give a master class September 28 at Washington University
