Come visit the historic Lucy Haskell Playhouse located in Haskell Park.
This 129 year old structure was built for Lucy Haskell on her 5th birthday. Lucy passed away at age 9 from diptheria and the Haskells donated the playhouse, family home and 6.5 acres of land to the City of Alton. This area is now known as Haskell Park.
A campaign is underway to restore the playhouse before it falls past the point of repair. There is evident wood and water damage and the playhouse is covered in lead based paint that must be professionally removed before any other repairs can take place.
The playhouse is an important part of Alton's history. Come by and take a look!
