lton Youth Symphony, in collaboration with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, will be hosting 85 young musicians from St. Bonaventura School in Dillingen, Germany for three nights this summer. The musicians, ranging in age from 13 to 17 comprise three performance groups: a choir, a string orchestra, and a big band. Alton will be the last stop on their two-week tour of the Midwest. The groups will arrive in Alton on August 4 and will be available for performances from August 5 to August 7. Planning for specific performance dates and times is still underway.
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp's International Exchange Program begain in 1969, the same year that AYS was formed! The program is dedicated to promoting peace and understanding through the universal language of the arts.
AYS will be seeking host families as well as performance venues. More details will be posted in the next several weeks, be sure to check back. Meanwhile, community members who are interested in helping plan the event are invited to attend an informational meeting at:
