Challenge Unlimited, Inc. Wins Scott Air Force Base Commissary Contract
(Alton, IL - January 6, 2010) � Challenge Unlimited, Inc. headquartered in Alton IL, was recently awarded the Commissary contract at Scott Air Force Base in Shiloh IL. The Commissary is Challenge�s fifth NISH AbilityOne service contract at the military base along with Grounds Maintenance, Food Service, Recycling, and Custodial.
In February 2010, Challenge will manage the Commissary�s custodial and shelf stocking operations. This contract will provide many more opportunities for vocational training and employment for individuals with disabilities.
Twenty-five Commissary jobs will accompany the 138 jobs that Challenge currently offers at Scott Air Force Base.
Challenge Unlimited�s initial partnership with the NISH AbilityOne program, formerly known at the Javits-Wagner-O�Day Act (JWOD), began in the early 1980s as a way provide an abundance of service contract employment opportunities with better pay for individuals with disabilities. The AbilityOne Program is the largest source of employment for individuals who are blind or have other severe disabilities in the United States.
Today the initial partnership has grown into a long mutually successful relationship. Challenge now provides contract management and service labor for nine NISH AbilityOne contracts throughout Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
