(JERSEYVILLE, IL � May 20, 2008) � American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Jersey County teams continue to raise funds to help continue the battle against cancer. Two Relay teams are selling tickets for items to be raffled the night of the Relay on May 30.
Mike�s Team is selling chances to win a new wheelbarrow filled with all types of gardening tools and supplies. The filled wheelbarrow is being provided by Jerseyville Wal-Mart Supercenter and can be viewed in the store�s Lawn and Garden Department. Tickets are $1.00 each or six for $5.00. The Perky Presbies are selling raffle tickets for chances to win a rug or afghan handmade by members of the First United Presbyterian Church of Jerseyville. Tickets for this raffle are also $1.00 each or six for $5.00. For more information about the items or to purchase tickets, contact Irene Gill at 618-498-5968.
Winners for both raffles will be drawn on the night of the Relay. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the ACS Relay For Life of Jersey County. Tickets for both raffles are on sale now and can be purchased at any time before the drawing time on the night of the Relay.
Also as a part of the Relay night, a display of Luminarias will be lit in remembrance of those who have passed due to cancer. Contact Tom or Julie Smith at 618-639-5115 for more information about the ceremony or to purchase a Luminaria.
Teams of cancer fighting enthusiasts from throughout Jersey County and beyond will gather at the Donald W. Snyders Sports Complex at Illini Middle School in Jerseyville overnight on May 30, 2008 to show their support and dedication. The public is invited to come out to the Relay and enjoy the food and entertainment available throughout the night while helping support the battle to eradicate cancer from our community and our world.
