(JERSEYVILLE, IL � May 15, 2009) � For the Relay For Life of Jersey County�s team captain of the �Bob�s Band of French�s,� supporting this fundraiser event for the American Cancer Society is personal. Ginny French Sibert of Jerseyville believes in the ACS� three-word mission: celebrate, remember, and fight back.
Sibert states her first reason to support the Relay event is because she wants to celebrate those people who are dear to her that have battled cancer. This includes her grandfather, Bob French, who has been battling cancer for over six years. Throughout it all, Sibert said her grandfather continues to be an inspiration to their family. �He leads an amazing life as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather,� said Sibert.
For her second reason, Sibert supports Relay For Life because she wants to remember and honor two very special people in her life who lost their fight to cancer � her grandfather Valgene Harmon and her grandmother Sue Harmon. Sibert shared that, because of them, �I Relay because I wish they were here today to see my son grow up and to meet my beautiful daughter.�
Sibert�s third reason to support Relay is to fight back against �this horrible disease that has already taken too much.� Sibert goes on to say that she support Relay because she does not want to hear another person say that they have cancer. �I Relay because I have hope that we�ll be able to defeat cancer for my children and future generations,� says Sibert.
Sibert encourages everyone to help support the ACS� Relay For Life of Jersey County to help eradicate this disease and its impact on our community. She also invites the community to come out to the Relay For Life event at Jersey Community High School overnight on Friday, June 5, see what Relay is about, and help support the people who have committed to fighting back against cancer.
