Relay Event Slated Overnight on First Friday in June
(JERSEYVILLE, IL � May 5, 2009) � As Jersey County�s annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life event approaches, teams continue to host fundraisers to help fight the battle against cancer.
One of this year�s Relay teams, Bob�s Band of French�s, is hosting a bake sale on Saturday, May 9 in the parking lot next to McCarry�s Dairyland on Illinois Highway 16 West in Jerseyville. The bake sale begins at 9 a.m. and will continue until the baked goods are gone. Items for sale include apple, cherry, and lemon pies, cinnamon rolls, brownies, and all types of cookies. Also on Saturday, May 9, Jerseyville Wal-Mart Supercenter�s team, the Mardi Gras Gang, will hold a cookout and bake sale out in front of Wal-Mart from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, soda, and a cookie will be available for $3.00; a brat or burger, chips, soda, and a cookie will be available for $4.00. Tickets are still available as well for the River Clan Team�s upcoming fundraiser, A Tribute to Elvis, featuring Steve Davis and Friends on Saturday, May 16 at the Loading Dock in Grafton. The doors will open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Reserve tickets are on sale now at $20 per person. You can reserve a table of eight or more in advance. Proceeds from these events will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Jersey County. The Jersey County Relay event is slated to take place on overnight on Friday, June 5 at Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville. The Relay event is open to the public and the community is encouraged to come out and show their support.
