Kick-Off Celebration Planned for Relay For Life of Jersey County
Open House Scheduled for February 17
(Jerseyville, IL � February 9, 2009) � This year�s Relay For Life of Jersey County Steering Committee is hosting �The Power of Love � Relay Rewound: Celebrating 25 Years of Hope� Kick-Off Celebration on Tuesday, February 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville. Everyone is invited as the 25th year of Relay is observed.
Visitors are welcome to stop by anytime during the Kick-Off Open House for food, fun, and lots of information about forming a Relay Team, registering as a Survivor, purchasing Luminarias, or becoming a Sponsor for our event. Relay teams can register before or at the Kick-Off Celebration and receive 50 percent off the regular registration fee of $100 along with Spirit Points for their teams. It all began with the first Relay in 1985, so this year�s theme focuses on the events, movies, and music of the 1980s. Everyone attending is encouraged to wear �80s themed attire to the Open House.
The American Cancer Society�s 2009 Relay For Life of Jersey County will be held overnight on June 5th at Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville. Anyone interested can also visit Jersey County�s event website at www.relayforlifejersey.com to register your team or to learn more.
Volunteers from the Jersey County area are also still needed to continue planning now for this event. They are needed to organize and recruit teams, seek community support and underwrite, coordinate logistics, find refreshments and prizes, plan entertainment, and lend their support in any way.
