By approaching menopause as a new and exciting stage of life and planning for the changes, more women can feel self-assured, healthy and more energetic. Find out how eating a balanced diet, participating in regular exercise and not smoking, have been found to improve a woman's menopause experience. Find out how the reduction or elimination of certain foods from the diet can minimize hot flashes. You'll also learn that it is not your imagination; your waistband really is getting tighter! But there are things that you can do about it.
Making healthy choices and learning as much as you can about the facts can empower you to look forward to and enjoy this new phase of life. Even younger women can benefit from this information by applying it earlier in their lives.
They call themselves the Red Hot Mamas, and they meet the second Monday of every month at Alton Memorial Hospital to take part in a menopause management education program aimed at providing medical information and peer support to women, men and family members dealing with the physical and psychological impact of menopause, which usually affects women age 40 and beyond.
