Participates in the Illinois Association of Christian Schools Fine Arts Competition
Junior High students at Mississippi Valley Christian School in Alton participated in the Illinois Association of Christian Schools Fine Arts competition held in Schaumburg this past week, returning with the second highest number of total points in speech in Illinois.
Desiree Nguyen, daughter of Gale and Rose McDaniels of Florissant, was named State Champion in Religious Reading. Megan Franklin, daughter of Craig and Carol Franklin of Bunker Hill, was runner-up in the state in Oral Interpretation of Scripture.
In Math testing, students receiving honors included Monteirra Alexander and Daniel Weir, red ribbons in Algebra/Geometry; Megan Allen, a white in Algebra/Geometry; Desiree Nguyen, a red in Advanced Mathematics.
In English testing, blue ribbons were awarded to Megan Allen, Lisa Brooks, and Elizabeth Edwards. Rachel Zimmerman received a red ribbon in Humorous Interpretation.
In World History/Geography, Jonathon Anderson, Wesley Edwards, and Christopher O�Donnell were blue ribbon recipients. Danielle Gleason received a red ribbon in World History/Geography and a red in Biology.
In Music, the MVCS choral group placed third in the state. Lisa Brooks received a blue ribbon in Classical Piano, as did the Mixed Ensemble; Elizabeth Edwards, a red ribbon in Music Theory; Megan Franklin, a red in Female Vocal; red ribbons were awarded the Ladies Trio, Men�s Quartet, and Girls� Ensemble.
Red ribbons in New Testament went to Hannah Carlson, Kelsey Nolle, and Daniel Weir.
