Local Filmmaker Proves to be Contender for Nikon Festival Contest
(Jerseyville, IL - December 31, 2009) Hannah Radcliff, a local filmmaker who crewed on the Jerseyville short film
"A Slice of Pie" in Fall 2008, now has her chance in the spotlight. When
Radcliff lost her job shortly before Christmas, she did what few others in
the job market could--filmed her resume.
An independent filmmaker, Radcliff produced a short film about her
experience for Nikon's 'A Day Through Your Lens' film competition. Her work
caught the eye of Nikon contest judges, and now Radcliff's film, entitled
'Non Linear,' is a finalist for the $100,000 cash award as well as a Nikon
D5000 camera. On December 15, Radcliff's film survived the first cut, in
which all but 50 of the contest's 1200 entries were eliminated.
Radcliff's film is being showcased at www.nikonfestival.com along with the 49 other finalists. Viewers
are invited to rate the films. The most viewed and top rated film will win
the Audience Award of $25,000. The site uses a five-star system for this.
Visitors simply click on the stars to cast their votes, 5 stars being the
strongest rating. Visit
Nikon Festival to view and rate
Radcliff's film.
"I feel like the underdog in this competition," says Radcliff. "From here on
out, it's all a big popularity contest. It's difficult to rally the kind of
voting power I need to win this. But I'm confident that the film is good and
that my message is getting across to thousands of viewers." The film, in a
mere 140 seconds, conveys an honest and powerful message about finding
inspiration in one's self.
