Local Film Series Begins

at EastGate Cinema!

Alton, Illinois (December 14, 2008) Today's busy lifestyle and the struggling economy leave very little time to engage in community activities. However, on Saturday, December 20th, there will be an inaugural film screening that should remedy any desire for culture. At the SCS Studio Filmz Series, local filmmaker Ryan Gregory will screen his film "Chances". The movie will be shown at the Kerasotes EastGate Cinema located at 625 Lewis and Clark Boulevard in East Alton, Illinois. This particular film will be free of charge to the public and shows at 10:30 a.m. on December 20th, 2008. "Chances" is the first in a film series from SCS Studio Filmz, Fly Vision Entertainment, and the Piasa Film Festival.

Ryan Gregory is a 19-year old, local filmmaker from Moro, Illinois.
"Chances" is his first major theatrical release and an ambitious one as well. The film is an action-packed suspenseful joyride that follows a released convict on a reign of terror with police in constant pursuit. Also showing on Saturday are the shorts "Scalpel" by Erik Williams and "A River for Katherine" by Scott Stoltz. "Scalpel" provides a quick look into how medical treatment can turn horrific. "A River for Katherine" explores the dramatic transition that takes place between love, loss and a refusal to accept that the complicated relationship has to end. Both film shorts previously screened in October at the Piasa Film Festival with "A River for Katherine" winning Stoltz the Best Drama for Film Short award at that festival.

The film series is a collaboration of local filmmakers and SCS Studio Filmz, an emerging presence in the metro area. SCS Studio Filmz produced the 1st Annual Piasa Film Festival earlier this year and now continues with a film series that connects local talent with an audience. Fly Vision Entertainment co-presents this event and was an integral source of exposure for the Piasa Film Festival. For more information about the film series and upcoming Piasa Film Festival events visit piasafilmfestival.com. The website provides a monthly revolving independent film showcase, a monthly feature film and DVD pick of the month for viewing, and updates about the direction of the Piasa Film Festival. For those who want to support local independent filmmaking in their community and moviegoers alike, attend the 2nd Annual Piasa Film Festival slated for October 1-3, 2009.
