A musical tale of "The Ugly Duckling" opens at SIUE
Edwardsville, Illinois - Based on the fairy tale, "The Ugly Duckling," by Hans Christian Andersen, HONK!, has won awards and audiences hearts around the world. With music by George Stiles, book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe and directed by SIUE's, Lana Hagan, this fairy tale musical will delight children and adults alike.
Spring has come to the farm yard where a Mallard duck couple awaits the hatching of their ducklings. One of the eggs, however, turns out to have a particularly ugly chick whose nothing like his siblings and who makes a strange "HONK!" sound. Ugly, as everyone calls him, survives a series of misadventures that culminate in a triumphant return to the farm yard.
HONK! opens July 17 and runs through the 19th and July 24 - 26 at 7:30 p.m. and July 20 and 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dunham Hall Theater. Tickets are adults $15 and children, students and seniors $12. Group rates available.
