Head Start is currently enrolling three
to five-year olds for free preschool. Half day classes begin September 1,
2009 with a parent orientation. Call 463-5950 for more information.
Head Start enrolls over 900 qualified preschoolers at six centers throughout
Madison County in Alton, Edwardsville, Collinsville, Granite City and
Venice. Qualifications may include low family income or a disability.
In addition to a nationally recognized preschool curriculum, children
receive medical, dental and mental health services, nutritious meals and
snacks, bus transportation, books, and extra support for the whole family,
all for free.
Head Start is a program of Riverbend Head Start & Family Services, a
non-profit organization that strengthens families in Madison County through
child development and counseling programs that enable children and families
to develop positive skills to meet life's challenges.
