(Alton, IL - January 5, 2010) Khiry Dejshawn Spells was the first baby born at Alton Memorial Hospital in 2010, although it took almost three full days to have a delivery.
Khiry checked in at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, weighing 8 pounds, 8 ounces, and he was 21 inches in length. With him are his mother, Deja Crumer, and father, Eric Spells, of Alton.
In the back is a wagon full of goodies for the family supplied by AMH. The gifts in the wagon are bought by hospital employees and include a wide variety of baby-related items. AMH had a flurry of deliveries on New Year's Eve, then a dry spell of almost 72 hours before Khiry arrived.
