Alton Square Mall
Disaster Drill Exercise
Area Alton agencies to hold Massive Casualty Exercise
Alton Square Mall will host a mock Mass Casualty Disaster Exercise on Sunday, October 28th from 7:15 am to 10am. The mall will join forces with the Alton Fire Department, Alton Police Department, Madison County Emergency Management, American Red Cross, Alton Memorial Hospital, Saint Anthony’s Health Center and Life Star Ambulance Company to hold this exercise.
The purpose of the Mass Casualty Exercise is for each agency participating to test their emergency operations plans. The exercise will include a simulated truck accident inside Alton Square Mall. Shoppers that have been affected by this simulated event will have to be treated by the above mentioned organizations and debris effectively removed from the scene.
An exercise like this is imperative so all agencies can put forth emergency plans in order for them to work effectively when an emergency arises.
The disaster drill will end at 10am and will be cleared out by 11am. Therefore, mall walkers may not enter the mall on Sunday, October 28th until 11am.
