Gegen said the two vehicles collided in the intersection and sustained serious damage. Everyone was out of the vehicles when officers arrived, he said.

Two people were transported with injuries that were not life-threatening, Gegen said.

The Wood River police and fire departments worked the scene to keep traffic flowing at a time of day when many people were heading home from work. The Wood River Fire Department tended to those who needed medical attention after the accident.
