(Alton September 10, 2009) � Last Thursday, September 3, 2009, Congressman Jerry Costello met with local Mayors to update tehm on pending issues in Congress and to discuss various issues facing local communities. The meeting was hosted by Alton Mayor Tom Hoechst.
Discussion centered on healthcare reform, transportaion funding, funding for sanitary and storm sewer projects, and the Mississippi River levve situation.
Regarding the metting, Mayor Hoechst said, "We were delighted that the Congressman came to Alton to discuss these issues with us. We hope to maintain this positive dialogue with the Congressman in the future.
All area Mayors were invited to attend the meeting. Attending Mayors included James Spann of Hartford, Kenny Beasley of South Roxana, Felix Floyd of Roxana, Fred Bright of East Alton, Steve Bryant of Bethalto, Mike McCormick of Godfrey and Tom Hoechst of Alton.
