"You Used To Live In My House"

I seemed to be wired to recall dates and places…and relationships… of significance.

To some I’m a new name and face, to many others, a face vaguely familiar that hasn’t been around in quite a while. My name is R. Perry Coons. I’m a 1960 graduate of Alton High School. Alton, Illinois is my hometown.

As it relates to my opening sentence, it was October 21, 1967 when my former wife, Judi Kaid, and I drove into Williamsburg, Virginia for the first time. We moved there, from Alton…technically Wood River, so that I could pursue my radio career, moving from WGNU-FM, in Granite City, to WBCI-FM in Williamsburg.

The path my life has taken since then has gone in many directions. I’m now living in Denver, Colorado with my wife of twenty five years, Louisa H. Coons. We moved here from Virginia in 1983. And it is our story; rather my version of our story is why I’m here on Rivernder.com. I wrote “You Used To Live In My House” with one purpose in mind and that is ‘to give people hope.’ It’s a story about a “blended family” and it’s not The Brady Bunch. It’s true. It’s real. It’s not always pretty. Simply said, “If you get to know us we should give you hope.” Consider this: On our wedding day my three children and Louisa’s two were ages 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. You get the idea now, don’t you?

Learn more about my book and even order a copy at www.youusedtoliveinmyhouse.com. I’m still connected to Alton through my Mother, who lives in Godfrey and a number of family members and friends that is diminishing much too quickly.
