JERSEYVILLE (Janaury 13, 2009) � Pamela Steinacher, owner of Steinacher Medical-Legal Consulting based in Jersey County, has been elected to a two-year term on the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Chapter of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC). She was elected to the position in November and her term of office began at the group�s January meeting. During her first year, Steinacher will serve as Treasurer-Elect and will assume the position of Treasurer for the board in her second year of office.
As Treasurer-Elect in 2009, Steinacher will become familiar with the duties of the Treasurer�s office and assist the current Treasurer in fulfilling the duties of the office. She will also be responsible for all financial activities related to the annual Fall Conference. When Steinacher assumes the duties of the Treasurer in 2010, she will be the chief financial officer of the Chapter and be responsible for overseeing all the financial operations of the Chapter and will work with the Chapter President in developing the annual budget.
Steinacher Medical-Legal Consulting provides many services to attorneys and individuals alike. Services include screening or investigating medical malpractice cases for strengths and weaknesses; defining applicable Standards of Care as well as defining deviations from, and adherences to, the applicable Standards of Care; assessing damages/injuries and identifying factors that caused or contributed to the alleged damages/injuries. Steinacher can also conduct literature searches and integrate the literature and standards/guidelines into the case analysis; research and analyze the validity and reliability of research studies relied on by all parties; and identify and review relevant medical records, hospital policies and procedure, other essential documents, and other tangible items.
Additionally, Steinacher can assist attorneys in expanding their medical libraries; interviewing plaintiff and defense clients, key witnesses and experts; consulting with health care providers; analyzing and comparing expert witness reports and other work product; and identifying, locating, and communicating with appropriate testifying experts. Other attorney services offered by Steinacher include serving as a liaison between the attorney and health care providers, testifying experts, parties, witnesses and other consultants and service providers; preparing interrogatories; reviewing and drafting responses to various legal documents and correspondence under the attorney's signature. She can also help attorneys by attending depositions, trial, review panels, and arbitration and mediation hearings; helping to prepare witnesses and experts for deposition and trial; developing written reports for use as study tools by the attorney; coordinating and attending independent medical examinations; and coordinating and assisting in facilitating focus groups or mock trials.
