American Legion #564

Win Governors Hometown Award

American Legion #564 recently learned they are recipients of a Governors Home Town Award for their commitment to community and volunteerism. Representatives from the organization will attend an Awards Reception on Thursday October 29 in the Ballroom of the Governors Mansion in Springfield where they will receive a plaque and a road sign acknowledging their service.

On August 5 Ron and Glenda Bruins - Governors Home Town Award Judges - conducted an on-site visit at American Legion #564 in Worden where they listened to several community members and Legion representatives highlight the important role the organization plays in the area.

The Governors Home Town Awards Program awarded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity formally recognizes community improvement efforts, which depend upon the voluntary commitment of community residents and organizations.
